Helen Doron Radio Team Hits the Road in Europe

Croatia Road Trip

Helen Doron Radio celebrity Richard Freedman will be broadcasting in Helen Doron Teen English learning centres throughout Hungary and Slovakia, with Marilyn Glazier joining the road trip in Zagreb, Croatia—topped off by the grand finale in Dubrovnik.

Helen Doron Radio, the only online English as a second/foreign language (ESL/EFL) radio station for teens, will be meeting teen students and interviewing them, giving them the opportunity to be heard live on the internet radio throughout the world. These meetings will take place in established Helen Doron Teen English learning centres throughout Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia as follows: March 16th in Bratislava, Slovakia; Tuesday 17th March in Poprad, Slovakia; Wednesday 18th March in Tatabanya, Hungary; Thursday March 19th and Friday March 20th in Budapest, Hungary; Monday 23rd March in Zagreb, Croatia; Tuesday 24th March in Zadar, Croatia and Wednesday 25th March in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

The radio team duo, comprised of Richard Freedman and Marilyn Glazier, will then be broadcasting live along with the approximately 400 attendees at the International Franchisee Conference in Dubrovnik on March 26th and 27th. There will be a booth on the many ways to use the radio to enhance and enrich Teen English classes.

Built on Helen Doron English’s successes over the past 30 years, Helen Doron Radio for teens was launched August 20, 2013. The 24/7 programming is targeted at helping young people all over the world improve their English through: music, stories, quizzes, contests, different types of news, special guest interviews on various topics, targeted “country weeks” where the teens in each country interview each other about their likes and lives, and more. All content is specifically geared towards teenagers, and the station attracts teen listeners from over 100 countries, who participate in the diverse, interactive broadcasting through the live chat, weekly head-to-head song competition and a daily variety of contests with prizes.

Richard Freedman, Radio Manager and Broadcaster, explained the importance of meeting personally with the students who listen to the radio, “When you sit every day in the studio, you don’t get to meet your listeners in person. We get to know many of them through the chat and online interviews, but there is nothing like a face-to-face meeting. On these roadshows, I finally get to meet our listeners and learn more about them, their lives and what they like. It is very exciting to hear from them how much they enjoy the radio station and which segments they like the best. ”

Marilyn Glazier, Helen Doron Radio Broadcaster and Marketing Manager explained the background behind the radio’s founding, “Helen Doron Radio was created to fill a need for a ‘cool’ EFL/ESL (English as a Foreign/Second Language) radio station that appeals to teenagers and motivates them to improve their English skills. With the introduction of our new Helen Doron Radio app, we expect that the number of listeners will grow even faster. The station invites many types of participation and the country weeks, where teens get a chance to talk about their cultures and lifestyles, is an especially popular feature. There is always something exciting going on, and difficult words are explained, so EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students have no trouble understanding. We have found the right balance between music and content for this market, and the increasing listener numbers show we found a market need just waiting to be filled.”
